Taneerhulla bungalow is a lovely place with large rooms and old-world charm. Your meals may be enjoyed in a verandah overlooking the garden. The nature walk is especially memorable in the company of the birdwatcher guide. The cook and the keeper took great care of us. The staff even couriered me few of my belongings that I inadvertently behind. All told, a very well-recommended place and with very good reason.
My wife and I stayed at Taneerhulla bungalow in last week of May, 2016. The rooms are very spacious with old world charm. Breakfast in open verandah and evening tea in the lawn were wonderful. The caretaker and cook were very good and we were able to get taste of authentic coorgy food. Visit to Coffee plantation and nature walk were memorable experiences.
It's a beautiful place hidden well inside the coffee plantations of Tata Coffee. You can book it online and it is not at all expensive. Food is really home-cooked and you can ask the caretakers to customize it to a good extent. They took us on a jeep trip into the plantation and explained it all really well. We were fortunate even to see a flowering coffee plant, though it was not the season. Our 1.5-year old was very happy to keep one fragrant bud in her hair :) We really enjoyed the guided tour of the golf area. We spotted a lot of beautiful birds too. We didn't play golf though it is also a part of the package. Overall, a very nice experience.
We stayed with friends in an owner's cottage, and had it mostly to ourselves, which meant it was like living in the house with servants. The house was set in the middle of the forest and it was lovely to hear the birds and see the stars. The house and its furnishings were not anything fancy, but more of an authentic heritage home. The tour with the naturalist was wonderful--he explained how the coffee plantation works, and the birding tour he offered was amazing. He was able to show us dozens of different kinds of birds (most of which we don't have in the US) and tell us all about them.
We had a fantastic stay, our room was comfortable and spacious, the staff were excellent and the food was sublime. A wonderful couple of days.
